Interview with Rev. Doug Bradshaw
The Rev. Doug Bradshaw, Executive Director of Facing Forward to End Homelessness, describes how, contrary to received wisdom, the best way to combat homelessness is to get people into permanent housing right away, and then address the problems that led to their homelessness, be it mental illness, domestic violence, job loss or other issues. He tells us how his organization has grown several times over and now houses over 700 people in supported home environments, and how this model might be scaled up to tackle many more of the nearly 85,000 homeless in the Chicago area.
Public Perspective, with host Kevin McDermott, serves up lively conversation each week with
intriguing guests from a wide range of backgrounds. The half-hour show covers politics,
the economy, business, and social issues with well known public voices and with unsung heroes.
Our guests have included such notables as: the President of the Cook County Board, the Editorial
Page Editor of the Chicago Tribune, the Mayor of Amman, Jordan, and a Nobel Prize nominee as well
as social activists, elected officials, and everyday citizens who have something to say, but whom

Kevin and his staff draw on a wealth of varied experience in business and industry, entertainment,
religion, the arts, and civic organizations to ask the right questions and focus in on the most
interesting answers. The Public Perspective team brings you shows full of vibrant, entertaining
